With the closing of Bambino's we have been missing a local restaurant where we can grab a quick meal, good food and close to home. We were on our way to try out the new owners at Guiseppi's but as we drove by Lantana we decided this was as good a time as any to try out this place. I am glad we made the U-turn! The interior of Lantana's is decorated very nicely- especially the larger room where you really forget your in a storefront on Salem St. The menu was more extensive than I imagined it to be with several fish, pasta, chicken, veal and even steaks on the menu all of which were reasonably priced.
I got the eggplant lasagna special - eggplant layered with roasted red pepers, artichoke hearts, baby spinach and cheese with marinara sauce and 2 small ravioli. It was delicious! The flavor combinations were wonderful. Their marinara has a great flavor to it- not real heavy. Hubby got his favorite Chicken Parm and you could tell it was pan sauteed and not deep fried. He got it with penne. Much to our suprise both meals came with a small house salad and a basket of foccacia and a wonderful tobasco/garlic and EVOO dipping sauce. This dipping sauce was so good I wanted to pour it on my salad as a dressing!
We will be returning to Lantana's often since it really is right around the corner and as long as Bambino's stay's closed this may just well become our new go to place.
I am wondering if any chowhounds have tried the pizza at Lantana's. I was tempted to get one but the eggplant lasagna really caught my eye... is the pizza worth a take out trip some night?
