Lancaster County: Yoders versus Shady Maple

Fool for Food | Nov 7, 2004 06:22 PM

I took the 40 minute drive to Yoders and had dinner there Saturday night. Having had some great meals there for a couple banquets, I had high expectations for the restaurant. I examined the buffet but opted for a turkey dinner. Here is my report card:

Salad: A
Mashed Potatoes: B
Filling: C (rather tasteless)
Turkey: B (Dark/White ratio was quite high, but it was real)
Service: B
Value: B+

The buffet, although decent, did not particularly impress me. It looked about equivalent in variety and scope to the Old Country Buffet (which I do like).

Conclusion: If I am going to make the drive to the eastern part of the county, I will go the extra 10 minutes and eat at Shady Maple. Yoders is a good solid choice but nothing particularly unique.
