Just a quick plug for Lamu, which I went to a few weeks ago and have been meaning to write a note about. Almost next to Craft and Craftbar and 'Wichcraft and Crafateria and Craftmatic Adjustable Bed on E 19th St, so in case you want something simpler, but quite nice, I'd recommend it.
Went to initially because I had been meaning to eat at the Iretrian (sp?) place for a while that had occupied the space before, (Cafe Adullis?) but also got 1000 points on OpenTable, so essentially $10 off the meal eventually. Plus I had read that they had just hired a new chef and thought it was worth a shot.
But with the whopping exception of the A/C being on the fritz, which they made up for by being about as nice and friendly as I've experienced lately (helped that only 4 or 5 tables were occupied) and free after-dinner drinks -- everything we had was very expertly prepared, fresh and delicious.
Salads to start, beet on one side, goat cheese on the other -- both refreshing and nicely. I can't remember what the 2nd entree was , but I had a homemade pasta with a fantastic light cream and lemon sauce -- I'd go back just for that. Can't say exactly the price, but ballpark was 40 per, most entrees under 20.
Check on the A/C, but definitely pop in if you get a chance -- well worth keeping around.
