I had the "special" lamb osso buco at Lombardi Trattoria (on Hall St.) today, and it was outstanding. The two lamb shanks were served on a bed of canellini beans and sauteed vegetables, and was rich but light enough that I didn't feel like taking a nap as soon as I was done. I've had their veal osso buco, too, which is good. But this one far surpassed it. The only thing missing was a way to extract the marrow from the bones. However, since it was a business lunch I probably didn't need to gross out my table by earing the marrow anyway!
