Lakeside in Montauk DOES have home made fried clam bellies.....and Almondito review

and they were delicious; I will never eat plain clam strips again. They have a giant multilevel deck right on the lake, and it was so pleasant sitting there watching the sunset.I also had my first Mojito there, can't compare but it was really good. What a difference the new owner has made, this will be one of my new favorite places to hang out there.
On the other hand, we stopped at Almondito in Easthampton on the way back for dinner and were disappointed. Before I looked at the menu they asked if we wanted guacamole with the chips, later I realized it was $18 for a tiny bowl (although very good, big whole chunks of avocado). My husband got quesadillas for the meal, as he wasn't that hungry, but they were rolled up like cigars and he said there was hardly any cheese in them. I got my favorite, mole chicken, but it was just two legs with a spicy rub, not really any sauce. It did come on a bed of sauteed spinach, which was a nice touch. Both came with plain white rice, like from a Chinese restaurant, and a giant portion of mostly plain black beans, I guess to fill up the plate. This is where some extra mole sauce would have come in handy. I know they're aiming at a different clientele than us, but my husband commented "We could have had better food at our local taqueria for 1/8 the price". The people watching was sort of amusing though.
