Lake Tahoe with (and without) small children

dcbbq | Jun 1, 201911:13 AM 5
California Southwest Nevada Lake Tahoe Trip Planning Restaurant Intel

We'll be in a condo in Lake Tahoe in August with two young grandchildren. We'll eat in some -- and would like recommendations in the best grocery stores -- but we'd like to eat out some as well, both with and without the young 'uns. (The parents will have at least one night out while we babysit, and, who knows, we may go out as well.) All cuisines.

For the OP, I want to point out that more specifics are needed. Lake Tahoe has 72 miles of shoreline and spans the border between California and Nevada. It's bigger than visitors from out of the area realize.

Yes! There are a number of good places to eat in Heavenly Village. Everyone goes to the Drfitwood Cafe for breakfast, to California Burger, and to Base Camp for Pizza, and for good reason. Easily the best place, I think, is Azul Latin Kitchen: very good carnitas, fish tacos, and quesadillas -- you can see a detailed review on my blog (link on my profile - click on dcbbq). We also had a nice boat ride and lunch at Chambers Landing in Tahoma, also on the blog. All were reasonably priced. We had a kitchen and access to an outdoor grill, so we ate in a couple of times -- Raley's is just a short walk from Grand Residences, where we stayed.. And we got some very good sandwiches at Social House. We tried Fire and Ice ... meh.
