this will most likely be viewed as a stupid question, but i gotta ask. when i eventually get settled in t.o., i would like to do some salmon fishing in lake ontario. i have looked into charters and such, and upon reading most reviews, discovered that most people who catch good salmon (chinook, atlantic, coho) get them cleaned and prepared to take home as fillets or steaks. now, this is the part that caught me off-gurad. correct me if i am wrong, but last time i checked, lake ontario was a polluted lake. most people i know won't swim, let alone eat anything that comes from it. so...anyone have some insight to this? i am going to fish regardless just for the fun of it, but is the salmon safe to eat?
