I just spent the last two evenings selling Pop and Water for 4-H of Lake County.
Fair Food available or what I have seen or tasted so far:
- Itty Bitty donuts which VI waxes poetic about every weekend is here. Now I understand the devotion.
- Hillery's Barbeque of Waukegan is represented here. They make Carolina style vinegary ribs, rib tips, ect.
- Sammies hot dogs, burgers, beefn'sausage, ect from Grayslake
- Lemon Shake ups
- Elephant ears
I'll try to walk about more to see what else.
I haven't been to the Commercial Building so I don't know if the small appliance demonstrations are carrying on. I am always fascinated by those industrial blenders where they (used to?) throw in a raw egg and the shell! I'd always take a sample and roll it around my mouth seeking the tell-tale gritty egg shell, which I never found! I may never buy a ginzu knife, miracle sponge or vegematic but I do appreciate the salesman performance artists! I'm just (too cheap?) skeptical to buy them because I just don't believe they will work in my possession.
Entertainment! Tomorrow evening will be the Little Miss Lake County Pageant --- oh my! Demolition Derby will be nearby beginning at 6 PM with a full day promised for Sunday beginning at 10 AM! Friday and Saturday, there is a rodeo. 8 AM until 2 PM Thursday through Saturday, there will be horse competitions. Friday night is the 4-H battle of the barns. Saturday AFternoon is the cattle auction --- Sunday afternoon the kids say good-bye to their animals ... not a dry eye around. There are also Amateur Talent Contests -- I saw the auditions while setting up last weekend. Lake County Fair has a website which posts a schedule.
So come for the Fair Food and a bit more!
