5912 Freeport Blvd.
This place took the place of Lai Wah, which was a dump, on Freeport. Just by that act it earns one star.
It's owned by the same group that owns New Canton and about 5,000 other Chinese restaurants in Sac, Bay Area and LA. It's Chinese name is now The Kitchen, which is the same as two other The Kitchen's in Millbrae and Alhambra. The menu is the same in all three. So finally we have another high end Cantonese place in Sac, in addition to New Canton. You can get shark fin (which I don't eat), abalone, whole steamed cod, and lobster here.
Today at lunch we only sampled two dishes: pan fried fish cake with Chinese broccoli and stew beef brisket in clear broth. Both are excellent. They have other regional Cantonese dishes. We were going to try the Sun Wiu stew duck, but they were out of that.
They also have the noodles and full complement of congee.
The only negative was we got an inattentive server, not bad, just not paying much attention to us.
Overall, we are getting SF quality Chinese food here. I am putting this in my rotation. Next time with more people we are going to try the more high end dishes.
