Has anyone been to the Park Avenue Bistro across from Lafayette Square? There was also a wine bar (didn't catch the name) nearby also on Park. Finally, i stopped in to (but did not eat at) a restaurant/market in the WireWorks project (under severe construction) that also seemed promising. In fact, the whole area looked fairly interesting. There didn't seem to be many amenities in the area, but it could develop. Is Lafayette Park itself well-maintained? Any opinions.
In fact, a general impression from driving around St.Louis is that there has not been very much new construction for the past, say, 60 years. Therefore, there are a lot of interesting structures just waiting for renovation. It seems to be going on somewhat, in fits and starts, especially downtown (nothing like the building boom in Clayton).
Sorry to have veered off the food topic somewhat, but if an area "develops" (like, i guess the West End), then good food is pretty certain to follow. And stay tuned for a highly subjective rant on St.Louis dining as i compile more data--mainly by continuing to eat out more than i can afford.
So what gives? I'd appreciate some opinions/feedback. Thanks to all.
