My old college roommate and I are meeting up in NYC for our annual get together Oct 12-16. She lives in Sweden and I am from Vancouver. We go to Le Bernardin and Scalinatella every year. We like organic/farm to table, Italian, French, and seafood. Although, we did love Ma Peche as it was so different from what we have in our home towns. She eats everything but I am a pescatarian.
Because we get together without our kids, we like to go to buzzy restaurants (that may have a bar as well) that we wouldn't otherwise go to with them. Le Bernardin is usually our blowout dinner to celebrate our birthdays but we would like to try something else this time around. How does Per Se or Eleven Madison Park compare? Are there other better choices? For our other dinners we would like to try whatever is new and of the moment in Manhattan.
We will likely be shopping in the day and would like some lunch recommendations as well in Soho and Madison Ave. For lunch, we would like healthier options. And a good Sunday brunch (free range eggs a must) to end our trip.
Also, is there a scotch/whiskey bar that would be good for after dinner drinks? Any other lounges/bar recs would be appreciated too. On previous trips we have enjoyed a range of places from the lounge at the plaza to PHD:) Thanks!
