Help with Labor Day weekend visit

mrsjoujou | Aug 8, 2017 10:28 AM

Hi,

We lived in Philly 12 years ago for a short time (11 Months). We are planing to visit Sat 9/2- Tue 9/5.
I have already made a reservation at the Vernick for Sunday.
I could not get a reservation for Zahav, so we will show up early one day. (sat, mon or tue)
Our anniversary, unfortunately is on Mon, the Labor day. Not many places are open that day except for Verti (did not appeal to me), Estia, etc. So might celebrate on Sat instead.
I looked into Ambra, Wolver and Aldine. Looking for a creative food that tastes good. I looked into Laurel also but their menu was too game/poultry heavy and no mention of their price. I prefer pork, beef, veal, veggie and seafood dishes.

Brunch and Bakery
I need a brunch suggestion for Sat and Sun.
I have Hungry Pigeon for their croissants and hash brown.
High Street on the Market for baked goods
Artisan Boulanger Patissier
Talula's Garden for brunch?

Gelato/Ice cream
Capogiro We used to go there when we lived in Philly. It was better at the beginning then it became too sugary. How is it now?
Gran Caffe L'Aquila
Weckerly’s Ice Cream

Any lunch favorites for Mon and Tue?

Thanks for reading and appreciate any help I can get.
