OK, my wife and I are heading to LA from Chicago in mid-June. We will be in LA for 4 days and in Santa Barbara for 2 days. While in LA, we will be staying with a friend in Santa Clarita and heading to Anaheim for an Angles-Cubs game. I have a decent idea of what food we will be sampling, but was wondering if anyone had any additional suggestions. Keeping in mind that I have little concept of the difficulties of navigating the LA region, here are some places we hope to try:
Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles: Sounds like a magical place.
Dr. Hogly Wogly's: A friend recommends this place. Says it's in Van Nuys and has great Texas-Style BBQ. Can't find any info on it though. Any opinions?
In-n-Out Burger: This is my first chance to sample the legendary In-n-Out Burger. I look forward to it greatly.
Koreatown: Don't know any specific places, but its reputation precedes it. Chicago has some decent Korean, but probably not in LA's league. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Fish/Shrimp Tacos: There is good Mexican in Chicago, but it's tough to get fish tacos. This seems an LA/West Coast specialty. Which places are good?
I have no idea about Santa Barbara. Are there any good places that don't cost an arm and a leg?
Any recommendations would be great. Will report back.
