La Regalade & Chez L'Ami Jean

To state simply: Both are great. We went to La Regalade for dinner, and Chez L'Ami Jean for lunch. I think both were 32E for three courses. With a bottle of wine, bills both came to about 100E. The charcuterie at La Regalade was great. I had a soup with chevre which was amazing. I think the plat was veal (???) but by that point in the meal, I had just had two amazing courses, about a half bottle of wine, and I think I was in some kind of food haze. I totally forget was dessert was, but I know it was terrific. This is a very busting bistro, it was a Monday night and the place was full. It is certainly cozy, but I never found it cramped.

Chez L'Ami Jean lived up to its reputation as a top notch bistro. I called too late to get in for dinner, but got in for lunch. The food was excellent here. I had the pigeon, my husband had the bavette. He declared it one of the great bavettes of all time. I had never had pigeon before, but I was blown away by how good it was. The atmosphere is this restaurant is a little darker than La Regalade (more dark wood panels), and it was hot. Granted, it was a hot day, but be aware if such things will impact negatively on your experience. However, it did not impact negatively on ours...the food was so good, we could have been on fire and not noticed.
