Just came back from a week in laid back La Paz, heres our report:
A nice restaurant, clean, good service, but the food was nothing out of the ordinary. sauces are ok but lack flavor, and the glass tables and strange music simply didn't create a great experience for us, overall, decent food, but not something to remember.
We really like the way this restaurant is decorated, its nice, clean and trendy, and service was o.k. We where a little disappointed with the food, some dishes where excellent and well made, and others where just average. I think you should give it a try.
We hated this one regardless of all the good things we heard about it. The food is good but you wont find anything there that you can't find anywhere in the states. Steaks, baked Potatoes, Burgers, and French fries. We also thought that paying 35 dollars for a steak and 55 dollars for a bottle of wine in a restaurant with showers in the bathroom was way too much. Service was good, and about the only thing going for this place.
We liked this one, it was clean, service was great, and the food was good and imaginative. The only drawback i can find with Gula is that their menu is a little confusing and sometimes too complex. We tried their warm Banana soup but wheren't too impressed with it. Overall, a good restaurant.
Finally La Paz has a solid, nicely decorated restaurant, with good service, and great food prepared by people who seem to know what they are doing. The food is very good, in fact, my wife ordered some Beef short ribs that she thought where the best she ever had. There was some minor details like our server took too long to bring us the check, and our desserts also took a little longer than expected. But overall, we found this restaurant to be as good if not better than some of the restaurants we frequently visit back home. If you go to La Paz, this is a must.
What can we say about a restaurant that takes 10 minutes to take your drink order, and 10 minutes to deliver it to your table, and we where the only ones there.
