La Marina, Playa del Rey

GF wanted to go out last night and especially wanted American food. She is from Shanghai and gets these crazy ideas some time. I've lived in PDR for 12 years but had never been to La Marina. I recently read about it here on chowhound so we went there.

The piano player had some talent so we opted for the bar over the dining room. Older rustic decor and quite lively for a Wednesday night though not crowded by any means. Perfect for my tastes.

Crowd was middle aged and looked reasonably affluent. Think Newport Beach meets Spokane.

We decided to share the center cut pork chops and the chicken stuffed with feta. Soup was tortilla which lacked any character. Not bad but not much of anything either.

But "The girl from Napenima" Of Antoina Carlos Jobim by the paino singer was dreamly make the envoiment suddenly into romantic. And two middle aged couples dancing there......Sweet Dreams!
