Had to be in PDR last night and after business was concluded we dropped by the La Marina Inn for dinner. This is one of those 50's time warp kind of places with red leather booths and a lively bar scene/piano player.
Nothing earth shattering, but it is the kind of place I grew up with and feel comfortable in. I had the NY pepper steak, not quite enough heat, but cooked as ordered, medium rare with a baked potato and nice amount of broccoli, carrots and celery root, with a nice German potato leek soup to start.
Wife had the veal marsala with a side of angel hair pasta with diced tomatoes with a salad with ranch to start, which she said was quite good.
The dinners come with soup or salad, which is also out of fashion these days, but does help keep the tab down and I appreciate it.
One bloody mary, one lemon drop and a glass of wine for me, (which was a highlight in that they give you a really big glass with plenty of wine...a rarity these cost cutting, maximizing profit days). Good service from a very nice older waitress who knew her job, water glasses were constantly topped off and the vibe was friendly, welcoming, neighborhood kind of deal. Tab came to $68, plus tip.
Located where Culver dead ends into the beach.
