La Indiana Tamales

JJ | May 25, 200405:04 AM

Finally tried this place after hearing so much about it. Went with a friend for lunch and discovered (woops) it is not a restaurant but a small market where they sell tamales and carnitas etc. My friend was game so we bought a bunch of tamales (they are hot) and some salsa and drinks and ate in the car. And yes, they are excellent tamales. Particularly loved the pork and beef. No frills, just excellent tamales. (You will not find goat cheese/mango tamales at La Indiana). The chicken and cheese tamales (seperate, not together) were also very good. Only one we didnt love was the sweet tamale with pineapple bits and raisins. It was ok but too savory to me for dessert. Are the sweet ones traditionally served with sauce or something else on them? Anyways, excellent tamales, but no tables.
