LA Hound seeks some special pho in Uptown

Joe MacBu | Oct 15, 2004 02:58 PM

Dear Chicagoans,

I'll be in Uptown (near Argyle) for a few more days. I'm trying to find an excellent bowl of pho. Specifically, I want a broth that is ROBUST and extremely flavorful and savory. Please, none of the light and gentle but with good balance stuff. It would be great if the pho had good tendon, tripe and rare beef as well. I'm willing to overlook the tripe, but the tendon should be good - meltingly tender and flavorful.

I've tried Pho 777 and Nhu Hoa, and they've both dissapointed. After reading some chowhound posts, I thought of trying Tank, but a friend says the pho was nothing special.

Come on hounds, I know the Vietnamese have established themselves in this area since the 70s. So there's gotta be a super fine bowl of pho somewhere, right?

I will be forever in debt if you can qualm this hunger in me. I'll promise to do the same for when you visit LA.
