LA hound needs advice re attire and don't miss items

We'll be in NYC Weds-Sat and the current dinner plans are, in chronological order, Bar Room at the Modern, Babbo, Spice Market and Il Buco (for a party).

Coming from LA, I'm a bit unclear on the level of appropriate male attire for Babbo and for Spice Market, particularly if I'm aiming to fit in as a stylish local.

I'm 35 and own the clothes to cover the full range from distressed jeans and trendy untucked shirt to fashionable pants/t-shirt/sweater to slacks/shirt/sportcoat, etc. And I have read the weather forecast, so I understand it's still summer for all intents and purposes.

Could someone who dresses well and has recently visited either Babbo or Spice Market offer me a bit of guidance?

Also, if there are menu items at any of the first three restuarants that I ought not to miss, please recommend them. Finally, while I have lunch in the Village, Soho, West Village and Meatpacking mapped out, the shopping corridor of Upper/Midtown-East appears pretty bleak for lunch options. Any help on that count would be appreciated.

Thanks.
