I went to a local grocery chain today to buy the cabbage, onions, and potatoes for my corned beef dinner on Thurs. When I got there, I started adding up the prices (and wanting more types of produce) and it was going to cost over $5 for those three items. It got me thinking, and, in the financial state my hubby and I are currently in, it seemed like a lot! So... I zipped over to the La Habra Produce Market. This place is awesome! I got 2 heads cabbage, 2 onions, 2 beets, 3 lbs of red potatos, 1 lb. roma tomatoes, a small bag of baby carrots, an avocado, some italian squash, some eggplant, peppers, green onions, celery, and radishes for just under $7. I'd say that's more bang for the buck! They have so many different types of produce, and most of the time it looks to be of good quality depending on the season. A lot of times it's not as pretty as what's in the chain grocery stores, but it still tastes good! They also have so many types of nuts and beans and it's the only place I've found that sells Halloumi, the grilling cheese! They don't sell meat except for certain types of mexican sausages in the fridge. It's really a wonderful place! Stop in if you're in the area! Just had to share!!!
