La Feria Bakery in Del Ray

Steve | Feb 15, 202002:37 PM     1

I decided to ask what kind of saltenas they had at La Feria, although I already knew that I wanted beef as it usually comes out chewier and spicier than chicken. For the first time ever, the guy said they have pork.

For me, it was a truly Seinfeldian moment.... There's another babka?!?! In all my years of eating saltenas, this was my first time hearing of a pork saltena.

Where have you been all my life? The guy behind the counter said it was very Bolivian, and that it included corn and dehydrated potato. I didn't detect either, frankly, and I didn't care. These were rich, spicy, and delicious. A true eye-opener.

Anytime someone asks "ooh that's so good, what's in it?" The answer invariably comes back: pork!
