La Cocina take-out lunch

guglhupf | Jan 22, 2002 01:40 PM

I just finished my fourth lunch from 'La Cocina Groceries'. We are talking about a Dominican grocery store here, located at the southwest corner of Houston/Mott.
Really yummy beefstew, delicious ceviche, incredible eggplant and pork stew. Go for the eggplant/pork if they have it. I like it over potatoes. Get some platanos also, tell him beforehand so the stew goes over it and has some time to soak up the flavor. Dishes seem to change every day, everything I have had tastes fresh, was well spiced and home cooked. I have seen sausage dishes, tripe, chicken stew, liver(?), among other things. The yellow rice is delicious, so are the beans. They also have various roast meats, salads, arroz con leche.
