La Cachette Can't Cook Beef

scottyp | Oct 3, 2005 01:54 PM

My family went to La Cachette on Saturday for a birthday dinner. Most of everything was good, except for a pretty major bobble by the kitchen. Two of us ordered rare New York Steaks and one of us ordered a medium filet. The rare steaks came out as medium rare to medium, but definitely on the medium side-only the slightest pink at all. The medium filet came out a slightly undercooked rare. For the first time ever, I sent back my dish. Twenty minutes later I got another steak, this time medium rare. I couldn't make our party keep waiting, so I kept it.

Why can't this kitchen get it right? Don't tell me I shouldn't have ordered a steak at a French restaurant. They should know how to cook a piece of beef. This was my first steak in about a year, and I was looking forward to it. To have it screwed up twice, at those prices, is ridiculous. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
