Had dinner last night at La Bicyclette on Columbus and 85th. It was very good, French bistro food.
Our son loves mussels (he's 4) so we got him a mussels appetizer. Perhaps the best mussels I've eaten in NYC. They were very large and meaty, served "Provencale" with a sauce containing bits of leeks, tomatoes, and onions, based on white wine and some other ingredients I couldn't identify.
My wife and I each had leeks vinaigrette to start. This was also good, although not up to the mussels. The leeks were braised, I think, and almost to the point of falling apart. They were served cold, and the vinaigrette, while very good, was not what I expected; it was much thicker.....it certainly had something besides oil, vinegar, and herbs, but I don't know what.
FOr my main course I had duck with figs and sweet potatoes. This was also good, if not outstanding.
Main dishes were in the $15-$20 range.
