Before travelling to New Orleans I read Mike C's 12/7 post and used it as kind of a guide and cross check. (BTW Mike, it was very useful) Based on his and other reports we ate at Bayona for lunch. It was dissapointing. From the inch worm that crawled out of my salad (I didn't say anything -- I know these things happen--I just took it as a metaphor for New Orleans: On the cutting edge of decay and charm.) to my friends over cooked salmon. It just didn't rate way up there. Perhaps it was a matter of anticipation. My lion of lamb with goat cheese did, however, make me slow down my chewing and just enjoy. So, just a word of caution.
One exceptional espresso bar on the corner of Dumaine and Royal. (I don't remember the name but it had a Cuban & cigar theme) The best espresso outside of Italy!
