Hello all. While I've been a long-time lurker here, this is my first post. I am visiting Kyoto this November, and am grateful to all contributors to the numerous threads I have read to narrow down my dining options while I am there.
I am in Kyoto for 7 nights, and have reservations already for two (relatively) expensive kaiseki dinners: Mitsuyasu
Miyamasou (going the whole hog and staying the night for the full 'ryokan' experience for this one).

Apart from those two, I am also thinking about:
Lunch at Nakahigashi
A tempura dinner at Kyoboshi
Lunch or dinner at Tempura Matsu.
I also want to try a lunch at a tofu restaurant -- Shoraian or Tousiro (any preference?)

That's already six Japanese meals, and even though I love the cuisine, what I also love is the fact that Japan is one of the few places where French food, for example, is probably even better than in France.
So I am seeking suggestions for restaurants that serve European (French, Spanish, Italian etc) dishes with or without a Japanese spin. Preferably casual places, but high-end is also ok. Similarly, any great wine bar suggestions are also welcome. I'll be staying in the Gion neighbourhood.

So far, I have these on my mind:
Monk -- Italian/pizza for dinner
Wine&beer Estre -- bar with French (?) food for dinner
Ryoria Stephan Pantel -- French for lunch

Any others? Any of the Japanese places I should swap out for something else? I also plan to visit Nara and Osaka on day trips. Any lunch suggestions for either place? I intend to go to Lamp Bar in Nara for a cocktail.

Thank you.
