kuchela & hot sauces?

eurie | Feb 9, 2003 10:30 PM

I'm looking for a local source for the Chief brand of kuchela. Kuchela is green mangoes, pickled with spices and peppers. It's great with curried foods and pretty much anything else. It's become my Caribbean version of kimchi. =)

The brand I bought (Matouk's) is more vinegary than the Chief brand I had a restaurant. Anyone seen this at any grocery stores?

Also, does anyone know of a good source of hot sauces? I'm looking for Baron's West Indian hot sauce and Miss Anna's hot pepper sauce.

I've found online sources but would rather find them closer to home if possible - preferably the peninsula but any leads would be greatly appreciated. Most people leave the Caribbean with bottles of rum sticking out of their luggage. I ended up leaving with more bottles of hot sauce and condiments than rum!
