Antipodean in Bangsar served some of the best coffee in KL. Absolutely packed to the brim on weekends, one should try & go outside peak meal hours.
Some brunch options tried:
- Smoked salmon with grilled vegetables, feta & chickpea salad. Very good smoked salmon, and very good grilled courgettes, aubergines & peppers drizzled with good olive oil & feta cheese. Chickpea salad was so-so;
- Pan-fried turmeric chicken with chickpea salad, which was the same salad as for smoked salmon above - ok, so food is not as strong suit for this coffee joint;
- Salmon fishcake, served with a fresh, green salad - basically a potato cake studded with salmon flakes, rather than a fish patty I'd expected. The mayo dip enhanced the taste of the fishcake a bit, but not memorable;
- Banana pancake with butterscotch sauce. 3 thick discs of dollar pancakes, served with some banana slices & a measly serving of summer fruits. Average.
The coffees were good though - thick, fresh brews. I think I'd come here for my caffeine fix, but forget about the food.
