Coffee & Tea 4

Krispy Kreme surprise - excellent coffee.

Having lived a number of years in the South, and having developed while there a fondness for Krispy Kreme doughnuts (not "donuts"), I was delighted when a friend invited me to attend the press opening of the new shop in Medford this past Saturday. While the doughnuts, hot off the line, were just as tasty as I remembered, I also discovered a very pleasant surprise: the coffee is terrific! I'm somewhat particular to dark roasted varietal coffees, (I generally buy whole beans at Peet's or Starbuck's and grind them at home), so I tried the darkest of the three roast levels offered at KK, which they call "Bold". I'm here to tell you, this was near-Starbuck's quality brewed coffee, far superior to the typical doughnut shop java. While I like the doughnuts at Krispy Kreme, if this place were near me I would probably be there 3 or 4 times a week just for the coffee. Mmmm, speaking of coffee...excuse me, I have to go brew up a pot of Peet's Sumatra right now.
