Stopped by the grand opening today (until 3pm), where they have free samples of 2 of their banh mi sandwiches. There was a choice of the vegetarian banh mi or KP's Kold Kut. I had the vegetarian, offered on a cute mini-baguette, ca. 4 inches. I'm not a baguette or a banh mi expert, but the sandwich was tasty and the bread fresh and crisp. They also had samples of goi cuon (rice paper rolls) and a vietnamese salad. I cannot attest to authenticity, but I liked everything I tried.
The takeout menu that I picked up lists 5 different banh mi: KP's Kold Kut, Savory Jambon, Cured Pork, Marinated Pulled Chicken, and Marinated Beef. There are also 5 American sandwiches, 4 salads, and 4 vegetarian choices. There are some other items for sale in the small storefront such as vietnamese coffee, shrimp chips and condiments. There are 3 little tables off to the side if you want to eat there.
KP introduced himself and made my sandwich. He was very nice and personable. One very nice feature they have listed on the menu is that if you call in your order, they will run it out to your car if you just pull up in front of the deli and honk. Parking can be difficult on Hyperion at times.
Even though the menu is limited, I will be back to try something else soon. Hopefully if this place is successful, KP could be persuaded to expand the menu.
