Kozen - New in Sacramento

Kozen opened last night on Fair Oaks Blvd. between Fulton and Howe (across the street from Pavillions). We have a friend who is working there so stopped by to congratulate them on the opening. Enjoyed some wonderful cocktails and appetizers in the bar area. The food was tasty. Incredible sauces with everything - one of the dishes we tried was a selection of grilled tofu and vegetables arranged on a long plate with a different sauce paired with each item, i.e. zucchini with a mango sauce, tofu with a sesame sauce, eggplant, okra, tomatoes, bamboo shoots (I wish I could remember all the pairings). The presentation was beautiful. The menu is like nothing we've seen in town. Great sake selection also. The decor is beautiful (even though about 80% finished) - very light and modern wiht darker tones in the bar - lots of bamboo used throughout. We didn't try any sushi, but the sushi bar is really nice looking. Our servers explained the dishes very well as well as the sake. Always excited about some place new.
