So here's a strange question. I love making Asian dishes. Japanese, Chinese, Thai... I'm getting better at it as I go along.
Thing is, though, it's sometimes hard to find certain ingredients that are kosher. Two examples I can think of because I failed to find them:
I want to make my own homemade Peanut Sauce. But most recipes call for fish sauce and red curry paste, and, if I'm being honest, the recipes that don't call for either aren't very good (I have done this before, when I was living on my own, with multiple recipes, and I find the best ones include both curry paste and fish sauce... but that's to my tastes). I don't know of any ingredients in either that would make them not kosher, but certifications are needed around here. Seasons in Queens had a nice selection, but sadly failed to produce both curry paste and fish sauce.
Pho is another one... an amazing soup, but depending on the recipe, would be hard to make certifiably kosher unless you can get all the ingredients already certified.
So my question is this: are there any kosher Asian markets? Places where I can find all manner of quality Asian ingredients (beyond your typical soy and teriyaki and such) that are certified Kosher...
I live in Dix Hills, on Long Island, but in New York City works, too.
