Koryo Korean BBQ in Oakland

Esther Landau | Dec 29, 2003 10:39 PM

We've been going to Koryo (at 44th and Telegraph) happily for years for their lunch specials. A while ago they stopped serving lunch specials on the weekend and the prices were no longer chow-houndish. But today, we stopped in for lunch (3 adults and one charming 4-year-old) and were treated to some of the surliest service we've experienced anywhere. AND the broiled chicken that two of us ordered was practically raw, even after we'd sent it back to be recooked. When we asked if we could get a simple bowl of noodles for our young companion, the waitress screwed up her face and said, "uh - No." When we asked for a fork for the young'un, she was put out. One dish arrived with the (wonderful)condiments, another arrived a few minutes later, and the two raw chicken dishes arrived at least 10 minutes after that and the send-backs didn't come until everyone else was basically finished (and we had licked the condiment plates clean). A bad experience overall, and we won't be going back again any time soon.
