Visited Kaya (Japanese/Korean)in Syosset, at the former site of Eddie's Pizza (of New Hyde Park bar-pie fame).
I have mixed feelings about the experience. On one hand, the waitress was friendly, but she was also hard to find. The restaurant was NOT crowded when we were there, so we couldn't understand why she left our table (with meat cooking on the grill) and didn't come back. She did this more than once. Given the spicy nature of the food (kimchee, etc,), not being able to get a drink to quench a fiery mouth is a cruel torture.
The beef was tough and overcooked (I think it was frozen). The chicken was dry. The grill was one of those gas canister jobs with inadequate heat, so the steak turns grey. I like the little charcoal fireboxes you get in Queens, so I'm spoiled.
Just my opinion...
