How to use Korean Green/Spring Onions?

Everytime I go to the Korean market I see these beautiful glossy green onions with big fat bulbs at the bottom (i know it's a lousy description, please use the link to see what I'm talking about) Anyway, I think they look really yummy but I haven't the faintest idea how I should use them or even what they are called in Korean. The Cook's Thesaurus calls them Spring Onions which doesn't help one bit since that's what a lot of people call scallions. My Korean cookbook is pretty vague. It refers to kol pa & tae pa (no pictures) in the glossary but all the recipes call for green onions without specifying the type. Could someone point me towards some recipes/info? My searches have been fruitless. Thanks
