Kobe or simply wagyu?

jgg13 | Dec 7, 2009 04:59 PM

I saw on Savenor's holiday menu that they have both standing rib roasts and tenderloins available in both USDA prime and "wagyu kobe beef (imported)". Based on the prices of the latter ($22.99/lb for rib roast, $48'99lb for the tenderloin) I'd imagine that the use of the word "kobe" here is technically incorrect. Anyone know if I'm correct?
