Had a great dinner at the Inn last Friday. Packed house. In the parking lot was a huge cognac colored Rolls - the last time I saw a car that big, Queen Mary was in it driving down Pall Mall. Mrs. Knoll told me that it belonged to the German Johnny Carson.
We had escargots (not bad, not great). Still don't like the brown bread that is served. I had Schnitzel Holstein and it was perfect - two cutlets covered in golden caviar, smoked salmon, anchovies, sour cream and a fried egg. Outstanding. Can't say the same for the creamed spinach which tasted like baby food. Red cabbage great. My partner had the routlardein (sp) and I thought that not up to stuff. Good drink, no room for dessert - bill was under $90. Where are we going to go for Christmas Goose, Hounds?
Knolls closes the end of the month.
