When I visit my daughter, I bring her knoephla soup from North Dakota. She has never heard of it in the twin cities and would like to know if it can be found in the Minneapolis area. Maybe you hounds can help.
It's a signature dish from the German-Russians in the Dakotas. The basic soup is a cream soup with chunks of potatoes and small chewy dumplings. There are many, many variations. Other ingredients can be chicken, celery, cream, buttered bread crumbs, etc., and sometimes sauerkraut and sausage, but then it's not just kneophla soup anymore.
Thanks to anyone who can come up with suggestions.
