Knock Kneed Lobster, Phoenix?

Question

Anybody heard of, or been to, a place called (I shudder as I type) The Knock Kneed Lobster? It's at 3202 E. Washington.

I just got an email from an old friend in Arkansas who says she met the owners, who apparently also run a B&B there, and she wants me to check it out for her. When I googled the name, it came up in close proximity on the map to a number of places containing the words "trailer court" . . . not that that is necessarily a bad thing; could mean some real down home chow. The name, however, does not make me want to run right over.

I have been going off an on to the Knock Kneed Lobster for ages. As John said, the place is a dive inside, but I love their fried cod and the red sauce can be addictive, if you like that sort of thing. On the other hand, they have some of the worst fried ever, so I usually get the fried zucchini as a substitute.

I occasionally will get a craving for it and go, but twice a year usually suffices. Of course, the place is crawling with lines out the door on the first Friday of Lent.

I used to work right down the road from there. I ate at Knock Kneed 2-3 times a month. Loved their fish & shrimp combo. Being from the Washington State and a real seafood lover, it was a nice treat in the desert. 
The only place I've found that I enjoyed more is The Fish Market...their chowder with fish & chips almost made me think I was back home!

Other than Knock Kneed Lobster, Fish Market and Codfather, any other suggestions for best casual fish and chips place around town?

I've gone here off and on since the mid 90's. Love the fish 'n' chips, and more recently started substituting the fries for the hushpuppies. Really like the deep-fried zucchini slices. Atmosphere is nothing fancy. Haven't dined there in years; always get meals to go. Don't live anywhere near the restaurant, but enjoy their food enough to make the 2-hour round trip once in awhile.

Sadly, the last time I went there--April 2012--it was awful. After that visit I read there was a change in management which may explain why? Not sure, but the meal was so bad I haven't been back for over a year.

It's now over seven years from my last post--Knock Kneed got better again and then had another downturn (IMO); however, I've picked up the fish'n'chips and fried zucchini 3-4 times recently and the portions were very generous and the meal was good. Fish fillets were thick and I prefer the way they slice the zucchini length-wise. The fries as usual were "meh" and I do wish they were better but oh well. If I want fish'n'chips this is back to being my go-to place.
