I am coming to Stone Mountain with the Big Apple Circus for 3 weeks. Last year, I managed to try out a bunch of recs from this board: the Vortex, Varsity Drive-In, Watershed fried chicken night, Thumbs Up for breakfast, buford highway for asian food, Matthews Cafeteria, Lawrenceville for Indian food, etc. I plan on doing some research and hitting some places I didn't try like Mary Mac's Tea Room but if anyone has things hot on their mind about the following, I'd appreciate it greatly.
1)good cheap eats under a 10-15 drive from stone mountain (last year, it was a lot of matthews cafeteria)and especially places open later than 9 or 10
2)best places for fried chicken that won't set me back what I paid at Watershed (which was the best I've had by far)
3)best uniquely atlanta places for a new yorker to try (ie don't need a good deli or a decent thai place...more interested in things I couldn't necessarily get in nyc)
