I just purchased my third KitchenAid immersion blender, and while the other two each lasted several months, this one died on the first use. All three suffered the same fate: I tried to blend something a bit on the chunky side and the soft plastic "wings" that secure the metal drive shaft to the motor broke, thereby rendering the entire thing useless.
When I broke the first two I thought it was me. This time I blame KitchenAid--I was blending a bit of pineapple and crushed ice. Surely a $50 immersion blender should be able to handle that with ease? (I thought?) Seems like these blenders have a major design flaw.
So, no new(ish) threads here on immersion blenders... what's the best model these days? Preferably something all-metal! I am more than happy to pay more if it means investing in something that will last a decent amount of time.
