Went to Kitchen 22 (22nd Street bet. Bway and Park) with my husband last night and had a great experience! They don't take reservations, so we were prepared to wait at the bar, but a miracle occurred and we were shown to a table immediately. The food was terrific and the flavors were fresh - highlights were a baby shrimp salad, roast chicken with capers, peppers and artichoke puree and pollack with a lovely couscous salad.
We are still amazed at the bill - with 3 courses for each of us, a bottle or wine and a 20% tip, we paid $110 for a great dinner in a nicely designed restaurant with good service.
Would love to hear other suggestions for cost-conscious restaurants with this level of quality!
