King's Cross tip

My first tip is not to talk to crack hags on street corners

My second is that if you ever have the misfortune to find yourself in King’s X, which for reasons I have yet to fully comprehend my company chose to relocate to, then you could do much worse than visit The Other Side on Pentonville Road, just opposite King’s X Thameslink.

It’s a decent local Italian restaurant with a slightly bizarre, busy, laminated menu which strays from Italy to Spain and beyond. All the usual fodder is to be found (including lasagne) as well as some more inspiring offerings. Seared calamari & octopus with chilli & lemon was exactly as described and had been seared for seconds rather than minutes.

Away from the lamination there are daily changing specials which are probably the best bet for mains. On the last visit they had braised lamb shank, and the time before it was roast loin of venison wrapped in coppa.

Not a ‘destination’ restaurant but well worth a visit next time you’ve had a hard day soliciting, dealing, or pimping.
