My wife and I come up to Toronto from New York City to spend every Christmas with my parents. A tradition we've developed over the last several years has been to walk around Queen St. W and window shop on Christmas Eve afternoon when everyone is winding down for the following day. We happened upon a small sushi restaurant on King W last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. We wanted to go to Lee, but it was closed. From what I'm reading now, it's not worth the effort; mediocre quality for the price point.
What we're interested in this time is any recommendation for a small, casual, light place with simple, clean food and a solid wine selection. Doesn't have to have a huge wine selection as long as what it does have is sound. Another option may be some trendier/contemporary bar that has tapas like servings we can snack on while enjoying one (or more) drink(s).
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, and have a great holiday season!
