Anyone got a Killer Shanghaiese Eggplant Recipe?

I'm trying to duplicate a dish my aunt used to make when I was a kid. It was eggplant in a very dark brown sauce that obviously contained plenty of garlic and hot sauce. She might have served it in a clay pot, but I don't remember. My aunt is Shanghaiese, but the dish is very similar to the Szechuan garlic eggplant dishes I've had. Any thoughts?
