Killer sandwich in Highlands NJ........ an Oscar?!

Drew | May 31, 2005 03:02 PM

I'm a sandwich kind of guy. I've posted on this board, as well as on the Mid-Atlantic board about such sandwiches like subs, (no.1 please!) Cuban Sandwiches (closing of my favorite place - people recommended Bistro Ole), Po' Boys (still can't find one) and of course Mexican Torta's (Juanita's Grocery). Over the Holiday weekend I met Oscar. My wife and I were at Sandy Hook and hungry, so we drove into The Highlands. We just wanted something quick so we tried a little trattoria (spelling?) called "The Bay Avenue Trattoria". Of course I ordered a sandwich called the 'Oscar'. It was a paninni of garlicky roast pork, Brocoli rabe, roasted red peppers and melted provolone on grilled ciabatta bread. KILLER! I can't wait until Sunday to go get another one.
