Killer Cider Donut's at Ohlin's in Belmont

Ohlin's in Belmont is an old school bakery. Some of the items are amazing, others just so so. Today they had nice challah and Irish soda bread.

I have learned to avoid anything in the case along the wall furthest from the register. Usually that is where things end up that have been around for a day or so. Always good to make sure it is something they just baked that day. And you can special order just about anything.

That said, today I was craving a morning pastry... they had fresh cider donuts that were still warm. The donuts were nice and big, with a perfectly crunchy outside and an inside with a bit of that cider taste and an amazing crumb. Usually I rank Verna's above Ohlin's and even Linda's for local donuts, but this donut is as good as I have EVER eaten. They said it is a fall thing for them, but get 'em while you can. I could eat one (or maybe two ;-) every day for breakfast on an ongoing basis.
