Killer breakfast sandwich- Fairfield CT

dude | Feb 23, 2004 09:22 AM

Not a secret to locals, but some of the best egg sandwiches anywhere are at the Country Cow deli in Fairfield. There is no place that I would rather get a bacon egg and cheese in the tri-state area.

Why so good? Well, the bacon (or sausage/ham) is cooked to perfection- crisp but not overdone. The cheese is nicely melted to the egg. The rolls are buttered and toasted on the grill. Their hard rolls are always fresh. This Saturday I got it on a Portuguese roll, which was totally awesome.

[sidebar: when in the greater Bridgeport area, get Portuguese rolls whenever possible. Large local Portuguese and Brazilian community has proliferated bakeries.]

COUNTRY COW
2505 BLACK ROCK TPKE, FAIRFIELD, CT 06825

If you're passing through on the Merritt, this is a convenient stop. Get off exit 44, go south down Black Rock Tpke a mile and a half or so. As the commercial district starts, it's in the first strip mall on the right.
