Kid-friendly but interesting near Museum of Natural History

loraxc | Dec 16, 201408:14 AM     30

We are visiting family in NJ and plan to take our kids, 10 and 6, into NYC for the first time on the train, probably 12/22 or 12/23. We are thinking of going to the Natural History Museum. We will be with my parents, who know NYC somewhat (better than us!--we live in the South) but are not foodies.

Party will contain 4 lacto-ovo semi-vegetarians who eat fish and one rather conservative older eater. Kids are good eaters who will try all kinds of things, including ethnic stuff, BUT the little one does not like spicy food. They are pretty well-behaved, but a white-tablecloth hushed environment is probably not right.

We may be there for dinner....certainly lunch. Does not have to be cheap, but not insanely pricey.

Might combine this with other attractions in the general area; not sure what yet. Yes, I know it will be crowded and nutsy.
